CLASS Aquatics Impresses To 7th Place Finish at Winter Age Group Championships!

Oceanside – CLASS Aquatics weathered the storm of both the elements and swim meet complications to come together for an OVERALL 7th Place finish at Winter Age Group Championships in Oceanside on December 17-19, the highest place that CLASS Aquatics has earned at a Championship Meet in a decade!  Despite issues with the backstroke flags that postponed events and moved them around through the weekend, CLASS swimmers showed resilience and swam their events inspired and with purpose.

10 & Under

Despite the distance to the meet, it is always awesome if you can qualify enough swimmers to make relays possible.  We were able to field relays for our 10un BOYS as we had 5 different boys qualify for WAGs, with 4 of them able to attend.  All three relays consisted of the following boys:

Liam Avraham
Erik Buschmann

Owen Campbell
Grady Nackers

2nd Place        200 Medley Relay

3rd Place        400 Free Relay

3rd Place        200 Free Relay

Liam Avraham (10) dropped almost a full second in the 100 Back, dropped almost half of a second in both the 100 IM and 50 Fly, respectively.  Being a key part of 3 different Top 3 relays was pretty awesome too!

Erik Buschmann (10) dropped time in virtually everything he swam, including Top 8 finishes in 10 different events, relays included.  Erik dropped a full second in the 50 Breast, dropped almost 4 seconds in the 100 Breast, dropped another 3 seconds in the 200 Free, over 2 seconds in the 100 Fly, and over a second in the 100 Back and 50 Free, respectively.

Owen Campbell (10) had an unbelievable meet, including swimming NINE events in one day, dropping time in most every one he swam.  He also placed Top 8 in 10 different events, relays included, with 7 Top 3 finishes.  Owen was CLASS Aquatics’ top point scorer at the meet.  Great job buddy!

Shailee Hoffman (10) dropped over 1.5 seconds in the 100 Free, dropped over 2 seconds in both the 100 Breast and 100 IM, and had 2 Top 8 finishes.

Isabella Karas (9) participated in her first WAG Championships meet and swam a fantastic 50 Free.

Grady Nackers (10) had himself a breakout meet, dropping over 1.5 seconds in both the 50 Breast and 100 Back, dropped over 6 seconds in the 100 Fly, and placed Top 3 in all 3 relays he swam.

11-12

Because CLASS Aquatics had 6 different 11-12 girls qualify for WAG Championships, we were able to field relays, even though we had swimmers not swim due to sickness.  The relays consisted of the following girls:

Jackie Ahn
Lucy Hoffman
Alia Lau

Kylie Melekhov
Grace Nackers
Unna Yuvavanich

6th Place     200 Medley Relay
7th Place     400 Free Relay
8th Place    200 Free Relay

Jackie Ahn (11) fought fevers off the first two days of the swim meet and still was able to post respectable swims in the 50 Free, 100 Fly, and was a part of the 200 Free Relay on the final day of the meet.  Talk about grit!

Scott Campbell (12) had a breakout meet for himself, dropping time virtually every time he touched the water!  He dropped almost 4 seconds in the 50 Breast, dropped almost 2 seconds in the 50 Fly, dropped a ridiculous 11.5 seconds in the 200 Fly, dropped over 4 seconds in the 100 and 200 Breast respectively, dropped almost 10 seconds in the 400 IM, and dropped over 8 seconds in the 500 Free and 200 IM!  What a meet!

Lucy Hoffman (12) dropped a bit of time in the 50 Breast and was an amazing teammate, pinch hitting for a sick teammate and was a part of both the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay.

Alia Lau (11) dropped 2 seconds in the 50 Free and was an integral part of both 200 and 400 Free Relays.

Andy Melekhov (12) had a fantastic meet, dropping almost 9 seconds in the 200 Back, dropped almost 4 full seconds in the 100 Breast, and dropped a second in the 50 Breast.

Kylie Melekhov (12) dropped over 1.2 seconds in the 50 Breast and almost half a second in the 200 Breast.  She was also a part of the 6th Place 200 Medley Relay.

Grace Nackers (12) dropped half of a second in the 100 Free, dropped 2 seconds in the 200 Free, dropped almost a full second in the 200 IM, and was a big part of all three Top 8 scoring relays.

Unna Yuvavanich (12) had a fantastic meet, dropping over 2 seconds in the 200 Fly, dropped a few tenths of a second in both the 50 Fly and 200 Free, finished with 10 Top 8 Finishes and 2nd Place in both 200 IM and 200 Fly, respectively.

13-14

Benjamin Oroszlan (14) had a great meet!  He dropped 2 seconds in the 100 Breast, almost a full 3 seconds in the 100 Fly, and dropped almost 3 tenths in the 50 Free.

Chloe Cheevers (15) was an integral part of both scoring relays along with Top 16 swims in both Breast events.

Oliver Hitch (15) dropped over 3.5 seconds in the 200 Fly and dropped almost a full second in the 200 Breast.

Laura Kelly (17) dropped half of a second in the 100 Fly, dropped almost a full second in the 100 Back, and was part of both scoring relays.

Andre Lokuszta (17) dropped almost a full 3 seconds in a breakthrough 100 Fly, took a little bit of time off in both the 50 and 100 Free, and was a part of all three scoring relays.

David Mazyan (16) dropped over 4 seconds in the 200 Free, dropped almost half of a second in the 100 Fly, and was a part of all three scoring relays.

Josh McBride (15) dropped a full second in the 100 Breast, dropped almost a full 2 seconds in the 200 Free, dropped a massive 8 seconds in the 500 Free, and was a part of all three scoring relays.

Daniel Oroszlan (16) had quality swims in all three events he qualified for, including solid 100 and 200 Breast swims, despite being sick throughout the weekend.

Connor Overton (15) dropped almost 2 seconds in the 200 Back and was a part of both scoring 200 and 400 Free Relays.

Noel Partridge (18) had one of the best swim meets a swimmer could earn.  She was a part of two different scoring relays, dropped over 5.5 seconds in the 200 Fly, dropped almost 14 seconds in the 100 Fly, dropped over 18 seconds in the 500 Free, dropped over 43 seconds in the 1000 Free, and dropped over a MINUTE in her 1650 Free!  Overall, she improved a total of over 2 FULL MINUTES collectively!  Great job Noel!

Charlotte Sams (17) dropped over 14 seconds in the 200 Breast and was a part of both scoring relays.
