NO VIDEOTAPING DURING WORKOUTS

Zachary Haw

Dear CDSC Families,

Please be reminded that there is a NO VIDEOTAPING POLICY that CDSC and VAC has toward our members.

Please review the CDSC Club Manual Expectations for "Parents Observing Practices" Section

• Parents may sit upstairs and observe practices (subject to VAC or PHO rules otherwise); however, it may not be constructive to observe all the time. Use this time to go for a walk, read, swim.

• Get to know other parents but do not gossip about other swimmers, families or the Club. Do not compare your child to others. All children develop at different rates. If you have concerns about your child’s progress, speak to their coach.

 • When the coaches are working, they are giving instruction to the individual athletes or giving a workout. Misinterpretation of this information can lead to conflicts. Any parent sitting in the stands should follow the basic principle of our club to be positive with all dealings with coaches and club officials, as well as promote a positive and healthy atmosphere for their children. Parents who do not adhere to these rules may be asked to refrain from observing practices by the coach or Executive. Failure to follow these rules may result in the swimmer of said parent to be dismissed from either the practice or the club if it is deemed that the parent is creating a negative image of the CDSC or its coaches or Executive members.

• During practice, do not talk to the coaches and stay off the pool deck so you do not disturb the practice. To talk to a coach, schedule a time in advance or communicate with them by email. Respect the coaches’ privacy and call them at the office or email them.

• Let the coaches coach, and refrain from offering your children advice on strokes or other aspects of competitive swimming. [Read this article on parents and coaching].

• Parents are NOT to videotape or photograph any swimmers during a practice and should NOT talk to their swimmer or try to establish eye 11 contact with them during training or at meets. Not only does this disrupt the class, it interferes with the group and videotaping/photography is against the VAC rules.

Thank you for your cooperation
