Swim BC Time Standards
Swim BC Time Standards are based on results and rankings of BC swimmers, and are derived from a formula agreed by SwimBC's Provincial Coach and the competitive commitee.
Swimming Canada Standards
Additionally, the 2025-2028 Olympic Program standards have been posted. Below is the philosophy we followed. In theory, the Open is the slower standard with Trials (Senior) the fastest. The SC (25m) Champs fall between the Junior & Senior Trials standard. There are some outliers that are slower or faster than that, but we are sticking with the philosophy and not changing them.
- Trials - developed based on average of 4 years (2019, 2022, 2023 & 2024) at 24th place
- Didn't use 2021 - only 10-20 swimmers/event - event with less swimmers, much slower than other years
- 21/34 events are faster - times were maintained from 2021-2024 standards if slower
- Of the events slower, 5/13 are women’s & 8/13 are men’s
- Women's 200 back, 200 breast, 400/800 Free & 50 fly
- Men's 200 events and up all remain the same (as 2021-2024) except 200 & 800 Free (& 50 Breast)
- Junior Trials - developed based on average of 24th place in 2022, 2023 & 2024 Trials
- 18/34 number of events were faster
- Similar trend as the Senior standards
- Of the events slower, 5/14 are women’s & 9/14 are men’s
- Women's 50/200 breast, 400/800 free & 50 fly
- Men's 50-400 free, 100/200 back, 50 breast, 200 fly & 200 IM
- Senior National standards – SC (25m) Champs - developed as 1% slower than Trials to create the stepped path between Junior & Senior Trials standards - SCM standards converted at 3% conversion rate
- Canadian Open - maintained the standards, both LCM & SCM from 2024 event
